Skin Care

Winters and monsoons are two seasons to be enjoyed thoroughly. It means sleeping in late, enjoying hot chocolate and planning fun outings. But winters can be tough on your skin and hair.

The cold winter air can dry up all the moisture from your skin leaving it looking and feeling dull and dry. Here are some do’s and don’ts for your skin this winter:

  • Drink a lot of water, water keeps your skin hydrated and moisturized
  • A good moisturizer or a cream is a must to keep skin soft and supple from the outside.
  • Use bath oil before your bath and use a good moisturizing lotion or cream after your bath.
  • Avoid having a bath with very hot water, as that dry out your skin. But if you do, don’t forget to generously apply the moisturizer after bath.
  • Consume fresh water based fruits like grapes, melons, peaches and oranges to keep your system hydrated from within.

The winter might be devoid of sunshine, but keep things bright! Take good care of yourself and your loved ones.

A good basic regimen begins with cleansing and purifying skin with a cleanser. Follow it up with an exfoliator or scrub which will gently remove the dead skin cells and leave your skin to breathe freely. Complete the regimen with a moisturizer to hydrate and nourish for a healthy glow.

There are several reasons to use a face scrub in your skin care regime. Scrubs work by removing dead skin, leaving behind a layer of younger, healthier skin behind. Regular use of an exfoliant can keep skin smooth and glowing, by constantly exposing new skin. Many face scrubs now also include moisturizers, so they nourish the skin while removing dead skin. Use of a face scrub can also remove lingering facial makeup which may not get totally cleaned by a cleanser.

If you have normal or dry skin you can use a scrub once or twice a week.  Oily or combination skins can be exfoliated 3 or 4 times a week with a skin care product especially formulated for your skin type.  Scrubs cab help keep pores clean and prevent break-outs.

Facial scrubs generally include a mild abrasive which is designed to pull away dead and dying skin when it is gently rubbed on the face. A number of things are in use as an exfoliant in a face scrub, including bamboo fibers, ground nut shells, oatmeal, sugar, and fruit pulp. In addition to the exfoliant, a face scrub usually contains a carrier oil or cream which is used to hold the exfoliant in a suspension, along with a fragrance of some kind, often provided by an essential oil which is also supposed to promote relaxation or well-being.

If possible, one should test a face scrub before buying it. The best way to test a scrub is to rub a small sample of the scrub on the inside of your wrist. The skin on this part of the body tends to be delicate, so if the face scrub will irritate your face, it will irritate your wrist. Be sure to scrub, wait a few minutes, and rinse with lukewarm water to see if your skin shows any signs of irritation.

Dry skin is very common, there are probably close to 100 million dried out, itchy people in our country right now. There are lots of good reasons to do something about your dry, flaky, itchy skin — your looks, your health. So it’s time to put down the back scratcher and really understand what’s really causing your dry skin problem. Why does skin become dry? But the medications you take — and even medical conditions such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, and malnutrition — can also cause severe dry skin. Unhealthy eating habits cause very dry skin. Normal skin is coated with fatty oils; something in the environment — or something you’re doing to your skin — is stripping away these fatty oils coated on the skin, leaving your skin unprotected. Less often, the cause is internal; a health condition or genetic predisposition is making your skin dry out. Dry skin is felt more than its seen , it can be so embarrassing and insulting. If untreated, dry skin can sometimes lead to dermatitis — inflammation of the skin — swelling and infection. The good news is that just as most causes of dry skin are external, most cures for dry skin are external. If one takes care of the skin , you can solve the problem soon. Dry SKIN CAN BE TREATED WITH CARE AND WILL DISAPPEAR IN NO TIME.
