You’ve had a hectic day at work, working on a major presentation and also have an evening party to attend, which you can’t give a miss. Leaving late, you end up staying late at the party, and you know you have to be up early again tomorrow to fine tune the presentation. In all of this, not only are you stretching your body beyond its limits, you are also tiring out your poor eyes, the windows to your soul are plagued with dark under eye circles and puffy eye bags before you know it.

Things you can do to take good care of your eyes:

Whenever working for long hours on the computer, periodically close your eyes and think of a beautiful green landscape for a few minutes, and then go back to work. This will give your eyes a much needed break and refresh them to take on all that you are subjecting it to.

Try some home remedies for a quick refreshment of the eye. Dip cotton in some cool rose water and place it over your closed eye lids for a while. You can also place cool water soaked tea bags or slices of cucumber on your closed eye lids for instant refreshment.

Use a good light textured under eye treatment daily for reducing your dark circles and puffy eyes. Apply it preferably before going to bed. For optimum results, try getting at least 8 hours of sleep post application of the treatment.

Have a healthy, nutritious diet – consume sprouts, unprocessed foods, beans, fresh fruits and vegetables on a regular basis.

Over the weekends, reduce your dependence on all kinds of screens – computer, blackberry and television. Give your eyes a break; try going away to a picturesque location surrounded by greenery.

Auravedic Rejuvenating under eye Therapy is an intensive therapy for the under eye area, a must have for tired and puffy eyes. Containing the goodness of pure extracts of arrowleaf sida, it helps nourish, firm and refresh the sensitive under eye area

If you scan the ingredient list for nutritive values of fats, carbohydrates and proteins while buying food items, why not extend the same diligence to ingredient lists on the cosmetics you buy. Branded and well advertised beauty products do not necessarily mean they are harmless.

Learn to read the labels on beauty products you intend to buy, even those touted as ‘natural and organic’. Environmental groups caution against ingredients such as parabens (which are used as preservatives), petrochemicals and their by-products (often found in skin creams, foundations, and lip balms), mercury (in mascara); lead (in lipsticks), dioxane (in shampoos and body washes); and phthalates in nail polishes and hair sprays.

Real natural and organic products are free of these chemicals and contain the extracts of fruits, plants and herbs with essential oils. As a test, also try sniffing the products. For e.g. check if a strawberry flavored product has a cloying artificial candy smell. If it does, that is one way of knowing that the product is not 100% natural or organic.

If you are paying a substantial amount for your well-being, the least you can do is find out more about the company and the ingredients they claim to have put into their products.

Be smart, buy smart and be beautiful always!

Winters and monsoons are two seasons to be enjoyed thoroughly. It means sleeping in late, enjoying hot chocolate and planning fun outings. But winters can be tough on your skin and hair.

The cold winter air can dry up all the moisture from your skin leaving it looking and feeling dull and dry. Here are some do’s and don’ts for your skin this winter:

Drink a lot of water, water keeps your skin hydrated and moisturized

A good moisturizer or a cream is a must to keep skin soft and supple from the outside.

Use bath oil before your bath and use a good moisturizing lotion or cream after your bath.

Avoid having a bath with very hot water, as that dry out your skin. But if you do, don’t forget to generously apply the moisturizer after bath.

Consume fresh water based fruits like grapes, melons, peaches and oranges to keep your system hydrated from within.

The winter might be devoid of sunshine, but keep things bright! Take good care of yourself and your loved ones.

Winter though is the perfect time for parties, get – together’s, sipping on hot tea and frolicking in the snow; it can be a difficult time for your hair. Winter has everybody stocking up on creams and oils and lip balms, but hair care somehow is always neglected. Just because you can’t see hair drying up as visibly as skin, doesn’t mean it doesn’t need special care during winter.

The cold winter air can dry up all the moisture from your hair and have them looking all dull and limp. Here are some must-do’s and definitely –not’s for your hair this winter:

Try and wear a scarf or a cap as much as possible when out to limit the damage of cold winter air to your hair.

Avoid chemical treatments like colouring, streaking or curling during this time, as hair is more susceptible this time of the year.

Try and restrict the use of shampoos in winter as they can cleanse out the oils from your scalp. Don’t forget to use a conditioner every time after you shampoo.

Try and use lukewarm water while shampooing, hot water can further dry out your hair.

Use moisture rich oils and gently massage into hair, ideally after warming up the oil. Ideal time to oil your hair and step out, as you will be wearing a scarf or a cap!

Restrict the use of blow dryers, they will further dry out your hair and make them brittle.

The winter might be devoid of sunshine, but keep things bright! Take good care of yourself and your loved ones.

A good basic regimen begins with cleansing and purifying skin with a cleanser. Follow it up with an exfoliator or scrub which will gently remove the dead skin cells and leave your skin to breathe freely. Complete the regimen with a moisturizer to hydrate and nourish for a healthy glow.

There are several reasons to use a face scrub in your skin care regime. Scrubs work by removing dead skin, leaving behind a layer of younger, healthier skin behind. Regular use of an exfoliant can keep skin smooth and glowing, by constantly exposing new skin. Many face scrubs now also include moisturizers, so they nourish the skin while removing dead skin. Use of a face scrub can also remove lingering facial makeup which may not get totally cleaned by a cleanser.

If you have normal or dry skin you can use a scrub once or twice a week. Oily or combination skins can be exfoliated 3 or 4 times a week with a skin care product especially formulated for your skin type. Scrubs cab help keep pores clean and prevent break-outs.

Facial scrubs generally include a mild abrasive which is designed to pull away dead and dying skin when it is gently rubbed on the face. A number of things are in use as an exfoliant in a face scrub, including bamboo fibers, ground nut shells, oatmeal, sugar, and fruit pulp. In addition to the exfoliant, a face scrub usually contains a carrier oil or cream which is used to hold the exfoliant in a suspension, along with a fragrance of some kind, often provided by an essential oil which is also supposed to promote relaxation or well-being.

If possible, one should test a face scrub before buying it. The best way to test a scrub is to rub a small sample of the scrub on the inside of your wrist. The skin on this part of the body tends to be delicate, so if the face scrub will irritate your face, it will irritate your wrist. Be sure to scrub, wait a few minutes, and rinse with lukewarm water to see if your skin shows any signs of irritation.

The Auravedic Apple & Almond Scrub is a moisture rich exfoliant ideal for all skin types. Finely ground almonds shells gently exfoliate by removing dead skin while essential oils along with organic apple extracts refine skin’s texture and replenish moisture.

Purity comprises both of external purity and internal purity. Purity implies both purity of body and purity of mind. Purity of body is only the preliminary to purity of mind. Both are equally important.

This body is the temple of God. It should be worshipped like god, looked after with care and nourishment. It should be kept clean by daily bathing and clean dress. Cleanliness is a part of godliness. You must be pure in thought, word and deed and in every step of life Purity comprises such virtues as frankness, innocence, straightforwardness, goodness, helpful, trustworthy and absence of all evil thoughts. He who is endowed with purity will find it easy to walk the spiritual path.

Energy for your mind and body is very necessary. Our thoughts are like energy. Energy follows thought and thought follows energy. Its like a cycle Energy has to go somewhere, so if it is not used properly it returns to God and the Universe. When it returns there, however, it is changed because of the thoughts behind it. Positive thought goes forth and is used just as positive spoken words create more positive energy. Positive words can motivate, empower and create.

Harmony between body and our soul is maintained by the power of mind.
